Important Notice

All members of HDMAC now have permission to fly at Cranford Park. Please make sure you have a copy of the official letter and your membership card with you at all times whilst flying there.

Please note that no drones of any kind are allowed and any model fliers that are not a member of HDMAC will have to apply for permission from Heathrow ATC and cannot fly there until authorised.

A quiet experience

  • You have a model, and you want to learn to fly?
  • Are you looking for help and advice?
  • Want to know what 'silent flight' is all about?
  • Looking for some friendly low key competitions?

If the answer to any of the above is yes, then come and talk to us. We are one of the foremost and oldest 'silent flight' club's in the country and we'll promise you a warm welcome

Flying Sessions

Flying meetings are held at Cranford Park, junction 3 off the M4. Regular times in the summer evenings (from April to September) are as follows:-

  • Tuesday: Training night.
  • Wednesday: Competition night.
  • Sunday afternoon: Sport flying.

During the winter, club flying occurs on Sunday afternoons only. Also at this time of year some of the club activities go indoors with general problem solving sessions and indoor flying on a Wednesday night at St.Mary's Church Hall in Hayes.

Note: Due to restrictions of our flying sites we can only fly thermal gliders, and electric powered aircraft.

We have several experienced pilots who will be willing to instruct a novice in this 'noble art' and to compliment this we have 3 trainer models (Power and Glider) that we use to teach novice pilots, however, due to the popularity of this, if you do not have a model of your own we may have to put your name on a waiting list otherwise instructors are not able to give trainees adequate flight time. If you do have your own model then all the better.

We have an excellent flying site, but because of the close proximity of Heathrow and the M4 we insist you pass the BMFA "A" Certificate of Competence before flying solo.
